We are pleased to announce yet another successful meeting of the ISCRiM network. The 14th Annual seminar, hosted by Michael Henke at Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics on September 2-4, consisted of 11 presentations by 14 members and invited scholars. The seminar began with a welcoming reception and dinner at the HÖVELS Hausbrauerei in Dortmund, where the attendees were treated to local beers, cuisine, and delicious schnapps made at the brewery. After various presentations the following day, the group traveled to a coal mine (Zeche Zollern (Zollern II/IV Colliery), Dortmund) that was converted to a museum. At the coal mine, the attending ISCRiM members and guests enjoyed some appetizers, were provided a guided tour describing the history and beautiful architecture of the facilities, and culminated in a delicious buffet dinner. The following day consisted of additional presentations, a tour of the laboratories, and the annual mee-ting of the ISCRiM members.

During the ISCRiM meeting, the members unanimously agreed to hold the next meeting in Richmond, VA, USA, in October, 2015, and exploring the possibility for having the 2016 meeting in Steyr, Austria. Further, Michael Henke generously volunteered to host the ISCRiM website, and the attending members created a list of contents and information that should be provided on the new website. In addition, Michael Smith volunteered to take a leadership role in working with a sub-group of ISCRiM to explore the next project for the network to pursue.

As always, the overall environment allowed for a free exchange of ideas and provided con-structive feedback for the presenters – a hallmark well-established in the ISCRiM network that separates us from many other academic conferences and seminars. We look forward to next year’s meeting in Richmond, VA, USA, and many more seminars in the future.

Michael Henke and George A. Zsidisin

About us https://www.iscrim.lfo.tu-dortmund.de/about-us/ Thu, 04 Dec 2014 07:36:49 +0000 http://www.lfo-web.lfo.tu-dortmund.de/iscrim/?p=126 Who we are:

The ISCRiM (International Supply Chain Risk Management) network is a team of researchers and practitioners engaged in analyzing, developing and disseminating evidence and good practices associated with managing supply chains and the associated risks. The main purpose of the ISCRiM-network was to speed up, and improve, the research within “Supply Chain Risk Management” by leveraging our joint knowledge within the network. The international network was founded in 2001 by a small group of active researchers from the UK, US and Sweden.

Purpose:

The primary aim is to facilitate rapid advancement of knowledge and understanding in the field through pro-active engagement and collaboration amongst key researchers and practitioners in this evolving field. The members regularly exchange and share findings and developments with others in the network.

A second primary aim of the network is to provide a core of expertise, information and knowledge which can be accessed by other interested researchers, practitioners and policy makers engaged in supply chain management and the risks associated with increasingly complex and global supply chain configurations and the greater risk exposure.

History of iSCRiM https://www.iscrim.lfo.tu-dortmund.de/history-of-iscrim/ Thu, 04 Dec 2014 07:32:43 +0000 http://www.lfo-web.lfo.tu-dortmund.de/iscrim/?p=123 image10Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts – it is an almost unorthographic life.
